Urgent: Lone Star Pawz feline intake freeze

Lone Star Pawz has announced an immediate freeze on all cat intakes due to critical capacity limits. With 380 cats currently in their rescue, operational feline medical costs alone are running between $10,000 and $15,000, leaving foster homes and budgets severely strained.

As shared on their official channels: "We cannot continue taking in more animals when our current resources, space, and finances are already stretched beyond capacity. Continuing to accept additional cats would not be fair to the animals currently depending on us or to the incredible people who dedicate their time to caring for them."

"Effective immediately, feline intake is fully closed with no exceptions. This suspension applies to public surrenders, stray cats and kittens, internal transfers, and requests from partner shelters. While we will no longer be accepting cats into our program, we will do our best to redirect individuals to other rescue organizations or assist by connecting them with local animal shelters when possible."

How our community can help right now

When local rescues reach maximum capacity, the path forward relies on community intervention. Every open foster home, adoption application, and monetary contribution directly relieves pressure on overloaded facilities like Lone Star Pawz.

You can create an immediate impact by fostering a cat, opening your home to adoption, volunteering hands-on time, or donating directly toward veterinary medical funds. Community solidarity ensures rescues can recover and resume saving lives.
